Operant Ashton grew from a particular kind of work: seeing the person, the institution, and the environment at the same time. Ashton’s practice joins executive clinical leadership, systems design, teaching, research, disability culture, and Autistic lived experience without flattening one into the language of another.
What holds the work together
The unit of concern is never only the individual.
A person can be asked to adapt to a badly designed environment, a clinician can be asked to implement a process that cannot survive the workday, and a leader can inherit data that conceals the conditions producing it. Ashton’s work looks beneath the visible problem: at power, workflow, access, context, quality of life, and whose knowledge the system has learned to count.

Regional systems building
Built and staffed a new clinical site, supported high-acuity services, and connected leadership decisions to day-to-day implementation.
Executive infrastructure
Leads clinical operations and professional standards across sites, supervising senior clinicians and designing the processes, templates, meeting structures, quality systems, and fieldwork models that hold the work together.
Teaching and curriculum
Teaches psychology and behavior analysis, develops curriculum, and creates spaces where Autistic knowledge is treated as expertise rather than an afterthought.
Research and advisory work
Contributes lived-experience and professional expertise to university, health-system, disability-community, and neurodiversity-affirming research and advisory collaborations.

Inside the discipline, and willing to question what it asks people to endure.
Ashton is an Autistic BCBA whose relationship to behavior analysis is professional, intellectual, personal, and critical. That combination shapes how she approaches assent, autonomy, crisis support, social validity, masking, institutional power, and the difference between a compliant system and a humane one.
